The Peony Pavilion
牡丹亭
In collaboration with Suzhou Wugong Pan Pacific Hotel, I designed and produced a four-screen entrance motion graphics installation for The Peony Pavilion exhibition. Created using Cinema 4D, Redshift, and After Effects, the animation reinterprets traditional Chinese aesthetics through contemporary 3D motion design.
Inspired by the poetic atmosphere of Kunqu Opera and Suzhou classical gardens, the visuals feature embroidered silk fans, bamboo groves, pine trees, traditional pavilions, and Taihu rocks. Cinema 4D and Redshift were used for 3D production and rendering, while After Effects was used for compositing, visual refinement, transitions, and synchronizing the four-screen experience. Together, the screens transformed the exhibition entrance into an immersive passage that connected the physical space to the dreamlike world of The Peony Pavilion.
